ISM/ISPS Code

SV Ship Management develops, implements and maintains a safety-management system (SMS) according to the ISM Code including:

• A safety and environmental-protection policy;
• Instructions and procedures to ensure safe operation of ships and protection of the environment in compliance with relevant international and Flag State legislation;
• Defined levels of authority and lines of communication between, and among shore and shipboard personnel;
• Procedures for reporting accidents and non-conformities with the provisions of the ISM Code;
• Procedures to prepare for and respond to emergency situations;
• SOPEP/Shipboard Marine Pollution Emergency Plans;

 

Terms

• "International Safety Management (ISM) Code" means the International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention.The purpose of this Code is to provide an international standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention.

 

• The "International Ship and Port Facility Security Code" (ISPS Code) is a comprehensive set of measures to enhance the security of ships and port facilities, developed in response to the perceived threats to ships and port facilities. The ISPS Code is part of SOLAS so compliance is mandatory for the 148 Contracting Parties to SOLAS.
